Courtown Harbour Heritage Audit

We need your help!

So you may have heard the exciting news that the Courtown Heritage Group recently received grant funding from the Heritage Council to undertake a Heritage Audit of the area.

The Heritage Group are looking to uncover the hidden heritage, including natural, built, and cultural historic artefacts in the greater Courtown and Riverchapel areas.

This special project aims to record, celebrate and protect the longstanding history of the area for future generations, leaving no memories or stories behind.

The group are interested in anything and everything from old photographs, publications, adverts, even old adverts all the way to artifacts from old trades like boat building, forges, stonemasonry, and of course the old brick and coalyards.

You may remember stories of people or happenings, how things were done, particularly important Holy Days, Fishing Days or local traditions or customs. Don’t let these stories disappear!

Anything is welcome to be added to the collection. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so please don’t dismiss anything you may have as not being important enough!

Also its important to note that we will not keep anything you submit! We will photograph or copy, log the details, and thats it!

(And if you have something you think maybe you shouldn't, but also you think it should be noted, get in touch anyway, we won’t say a word!)

To get in touch, simply fill in the form below and a member of the

Courtown Heritage Group or Anú Heritage will be in touch!
